Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy

After suffering an injury or illness or undergoing surgery, many find that the road to recovery is lot smoother with the help of our rehabilitation experts. People of all ages take advantage of our services so they may return to their daily routines.

Our licensed therapists and other trained staff members offer inpatient and outpatient services to restore movement and function, relieve pain, and prevent future injury. Working closely with physicians and other medical professionals, they can create a rehabilitation program tailored to your individual needs.

Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation
Physical therapy can help you get back on your feet again after suffering an orthopedic, neurological, or cardiovascular injury or illness. The objective is to restore strength, motion, and functional independence — and get you back to work or to your favorite sport or recreational activities.

Our therapists may use a combination of heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, or an exercise program to assist the healing process. In addition, they also provide motivation and patient education.

Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapy program helps restore daily living skills — such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and bathing that one may lose through stroke, illness or accident. We also help patients regain their independence following such major operations, such as total-hip, total-knee, and heart surgery.

Speech & Language Pathology
When people have difficulties with speech, language or swallowing medicine or food, our Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) specialists can help. Following diagnosis and referral from a physician, SLP is offered on both an inpatient outpatient basis.

Communication problems can arise following a stroke, rendering the patient non-verbal or non-vocal. Children may have special  language and cognition challenges related to SLP delay, or they may be diagnosed with an SLP disorder. Working with these individuals and their families, we can help them cope and improve. In addition, we offer education and teach prevention at various locations in western Washington County.

Gynecological Physical Therapy
You don’t have to always live with obstetric or gynecological-related pain. While these problems can be serious and should be checked out by a physician, many women have found relief by following a program of physical therapy.

Our physical therapists can help pregnant women and new mothers find relief from back pain, muscle or joint aches, post-Cesarean section pain, and more. We also offer programs for uncontrolled loss of urine when coughing or sneezing, pelvic pain during intercourse, urination from unknown causes, and other conditions.

Aquatic Therapy

Due to the buoyancy and resistance of water, aquatic therapy can be an ideal form of exercise, balance, and coordination training. After careful evaluation, patients are provided with a customized regimen, which is continuously monitored and updated by the therapists.

Using a pool equipped with a lift chair, steps and rails, patients find our aquatic therapy sessions to be very effective for all sorts of musculoskeletal and other fitness conditions.

Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation
The body's vestibular system contributes to our sense of balance, posture, and spatial orientation, and helps control our body movements, including the ability to walk. When it isn’t working right, you may experience dizziness, vertigo, lightheadedness, spinning and swimming sensations, nausea, giddiness, difficulty focusing, feeling off balance, or difficulty walking.  If that is that case, you may benefit from balance and vestibular rehabilitation.

If you are having trouble with balance and movement, oit may be the result of such conditions as vertigo (post-traumatic, BPPV), Ménière's disease, stroke (CVA), acoustic neuroma, vestibular neuritis/Labrynthitis, whiplash, and neck or head injuries. Following a thorough evaluation, our physical therapists teach you specific techniques and exercises designed to meet your individual needs. They also show you how to continue making improvement through an ongoing home exercise program.
